Origins: AIMS traces back to the Amala Cancer Hospital, established in 1978 as a nonprofit charitable institution focused on cancer care. It formally began functioning under that mission, spreading over a 40-acre campus on the slopes of Vilangan Hills .
Evolution: The medical college division began later (around 2002), and the institution was officially instituted as a postgraduate and super-speciality provider subsequently .
Administered by: The Devamatha Province of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), a Christian religious congregation founded in 1831. It operates as a Christian minority, non-profit institution
