Tver State Medical University (TverSMU) is a well-regarded public institution in Russia, particularly popular with international students for its medical programs. Established in 1936.

Eligibility & Admission Process (esp. for Indian Students)

  • Qualifying NEET is required for Indian students to practice medicine in India later.

  • No IELTS / TOEFL required in many cases, since course is English taught. 

  • Admission procedure usually involves submission of academic documents, verification, receiving an invitation letter, obtaining visa, etc. Sometimes an entrance exam or interview may be required. 

 

Recognition & Validity

  • Tver State Medical University is listed in WHO, WDOMS / World Directory of Medical Schools, and recognized by NMC (India) for MBBS degree purposes. 

  • Graduates need to clear the FMGE/NExT (India’s licensing exam) if they intend to practice in India.

  • Hostels: There are ~ four hostels for foreign students. Rooms typically shared 2-3 students per room; furnished; internet/WiFi access; Indian food options in mess in some cases.
