• Founded in 2002, the college is attached to the Dr. Somervell Memorial Mission Hospital, which traces back to 1894 in Karakonam, Thiruvananthapuram district. It is a Christian minority, private (self-financing) institution run by the South Kerala Diocese of the Church of South India, under the South Kerala Medical Mission—a registered charitable society .
