Kazan State Medical University

Founded in 1814, originally as part of Kazan Emperor University. 

  • It’s one of the oldest and respected medical universities in Russia. 

  • It is located in Kazan, which is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia.

 

Academics & Recognition

  • Offers multiple faculties including Clinical Medicine (MBBS), Basic Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, etc. 

  • English-medium MBBS is offered. Also includes Russian language training so students can interact in clinics, etc.

  • Recognized by WHO and listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS). For Indian students, KSMU is/NMC-approved (formerly MCI).

 

Duration, Structure & Clinical Exposure

  • The MBBS programme is 6 years in total: 5 years of academic + clinical training followed by 1 year of internship. 

  • Clinical training is done through multiple affiliated hospitals in Kazan. There are many clinical units (hospitals, polyclinics, maternity hospitals, etc.) used as training bases.
