The South Kazakh State Medical University is more commonly known as the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy (SKMA). Located in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, it is a government research university that was established in 1979. It is a popular destination for international students, particularly those seeking to study MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery).

The university is recognized by WHO and listed in WDOMS.
It is also recognized by the Medical Council of India (now NMC) — so Indian students graduating from SKMA can (in theory) appear for FMGE / NExT.
Eligibility generally requires completion of 10 + 2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB), usually with ≥50% (for general category). For reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC in India), sometimes lower criteria are cited in some sources.
NEET qualification is required (for Indian students) as per current regulations.
